Hi, I’m Fiona hurley

CanfitPro

BarreBody Pilates Reformer and Mat Certified

YTT 200, Yoga Alliance Canada

My love of understanding movement and wellness led me to a degree in Kinesiology (Western 2001), followed by a Bachelor of Education (Western, 2002).  I have always enjoyed dance, martial arts, running and yoga.  However, I found my true passion in Pilates!

I first came to Pilates in 2008 after a spinal injury made the other types of movement that I enjoy too challenging.  I immediately fell in love with how it made my body feel. I was able to experience a challenging and strengthening workout, while protecting my joints and allowing injuries to heal.  It allowed me to move and complete daily activities with more ease.

Pilates also gave me the strength and stamina needed throughout pregnancy as well as throughout health challenges, allowing me to quickly get back into shape and feel good in my body.

Eventually I realized that I wanted to be able to share my love of Pilates with others. Building on my background in Kinesiology and Education, I completed my Pilates Reformer and Barre Body certifications and began teaching in the London community. I loved it!  Eventually, I left my career as a secondary school teacher to teach Pilates full-time, which has led me to open my unique studio in Wortley Village.

I understand how busy life can get, and how often taking care of ourselves gets pushed aside by other priorities.  For this reason, I provide my clients with very effective workouts tailored to your unique goals and needs.  I will encourage and motivate you, and provide you with tips to help support your overall wellness outside of Pilates.

Feel free to contact me with any questions before you get started.

I hope you will join me and see what Pilates can do for you! Fiona

Why work with me?

  • Pilates offers a range of benefits for both physical and mental well-being. It emphasizes core strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness, which can improve posture, balance, and alignment. By focusing on controlled movements and proper breathing, Pilates enhances muscular endurance and reduces the risk of injury. Additionally, it promotes mental clarity and relaxation, making it an effective stress-relief practice. Regular Pilates sessions can lead to increased energy levels, better coordination, and a stronger, more resilient body. Also, it’s pretty fun!

  • This is a small studio where all clients receive indiviualized training in an intimate setting. I offer Private Reformer and semi-private Mat Pilates (up to 4 people) which are held at my in-home studio on Victor St. in Wortley Village. For Private and Semi-private classes you can sign up online for the time that works best for you.

Group Mat Pilates and Barre classes have a maximum of 8 people and are run as 8-week sessions. They are held at 190 Wortley Road in the Rising Moon Belly Dance studio. See the booking schedule for details.
